Franklin is home to the premiere hospital in Southampton County. A 221-bed facility established in 1963, Southampton Memorial Hospital is a non-profit organization committed to learning new and better ways of improving health care services. From women’s services to home health to senior care, Southampton Memorial Hospital has provided generations of families with acute, long-term and skilled medical care. The hospital offers specialties in over 27 different fields, ranging from psychiatry to urology to ophthalmology. In addition, 24-hour home health care, hospice and community counseling services are offered.

Area residents also benefit from a comprehensive range of specialty medical care services throughout the City of Franklin. Dentists, physical therapists, chiropractors, mental health providers and veterinarians offering quality care round out the health care profile.


In 1973, Southampton Memorial Hospital opened its East Pavilion, a long-term care facility and home to 116 residents.

Patients have local access to cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology and rheumatology treatments in Lakeview Medical Center’s satellite facility right here in Franklin.
